TRC20 and TRON are not the same, though they are deeply related. TRON is the underlying blockchain network (Layer-1), while TRC20 is a technical standard for creating tokens on top of that network — similar to how ERC20 works on Ethereum. Understanding this distinction is critical before sending any crypto transfer.
The wrong network choice can strand funds permanently. If a platform expects USDT on TRON and the sender selects a different network route, the deposit may not credit automatically. Sometimes recovery requires custodial help and a fee — sometimes it is impossible. The only rule that holds: the sending platform's selected network must match the receiving platform's supported network, every single time.
